Day 5 of New York Fashion Week belonged to the fashion veterans, Carolina Herrera and Donna Karan. Carolina gave us elegance with an edge and Donna took a change of pace giving us urban chic. Donna Karan's collection was inspired by street art and she sent skirt sets and dresses in doodled print down the runway. Over at Carolina Herrera, it was all about the details. Dresses glided down the runway in three-dimensional looking flower prints with every piece being a knockout. Kendall Jenner and Balmain's designer Olivier Rousteing are the most talked about names in fashion at the moment. They recently did a shoot for the Sunday Times Style which is out now. Kendall has definitely set herself aside from being just a "reality starlet" and has made her mark as a serious model. Everyone is taking notice including Balmain designer Olivier Rousteing, who has just recruited her as the new face of Balmain. Peep the stunning spread below and read the full article at allthingskendall.tumblr.com.
There is no doubt that the stand out star for Day 4 of New York Fashion Week is Versus Versace. The Versus Versace woman is confident, sexy and could care less of what people think of her. This collection by Donatella Versace designed with Anthony Vaccarello has style and lots of attitude. They managed to still keep some of Versace's well known elements like leather and gold accents while making the collection simple, chic and sassy.
Our coverage of New York Fashion Week continues with Christian Siriano and Lie Sangbong. It was a sea of whites and beautiful blues at both shows. Lie Sangbong showed a very whimsy collection with bold prints and butterflies. Christian Siriano is best known for his dramatic evening wear and he is trying to make more pieces for day so he showed more ready to wear pieces which included a white off-the-shoulder knit dress with a structured collar that would work well for any occasion. He nailed it with this collection mixing traditional with theatrical. Lie Sangbong Lie Sangbong Lie Sangbong Lie Sangbong Christian Siriano Christian Siriano Christian Siriano Christian Siriano
New York has the best street style and it is really amped up during fashion week. Not only do the runway shows inspire us but we also find inspiration in the amazing style from the fashion goer's. From fashion editors to bloggers, all the best dressed gather in style for a full week of fierce fashion. Here are our best street style so far.
We are only two days into the New York Fashion Week and we are already seeing some trends for Spring and Summer 2015. Gaucho pants, metallics in all colors, and pleats have been a universal theme throughout several shows including Tome, Zimmermann, and Stella Nolasco. The two shows that stood out to us yesterday were Monique Lhuillier and Zimmermann. Monique Lhuillier is known for her gorgeous red carpet gowns but this runway she chose to give us more daytime pieces that we can easily mix and match. We loved her use of liquid satin fabrics and intricate detailing. Zimmermann perfectly paired masculine and feminine teaming her delicate ruffled dresses with cargo packets and structured jackets. This week in chic Estelle showed up to the True Romance sneak peak in style wearing a dress by Pamella Roland and Rita Ora sparkled at the GQ Men of the Year Awards in a one-shoulder Zuhair Murad couture gown. Gwen Stefani looked radiant in red for her appearance on the Today show wearing Altuzarra suit separates. Taylor Swift brought sexy back at Deutscher Radiopreis in a black and white caged bandeau top and peplum skirt by Sass & Bide.
New York Fashion Week is off to a great start and we are breaking down our favorites from day 1. We are not completely done with this year's spring and we are already talking about next year's trends but that's the world of fashion and we love it! Mercedes Benz Fashion Week kicked off yesterday in New York with shows from BCBGMAZAZRIA, Tadashi, Nicholas K, and Richard Chai just to name a few. The top three shows that stood out to us and just screamed Spring were BCBGMAXAZRIA, Tadashi, and Tome. Tadashi Shoji wowed us with his use of ladylike lace and dramatic effect with chic and classy capes attached to some of his dresses. BCBGMAXAZRIA gave us ultra glamorous, flowy dresses in whites and pretty pastels. We were in awe of the feminine silhouettes, plethora of pleats, and willowy pencil skirts that seemed to just glide down the runway at Tome. Today is Beyonce's birthday better known as Bey Day! In honor of the Queen's B'day we are taking a look back at some of her most famous stage costumes. It has been a debate lately on whether Beyonce is considered a fashion icon and in our opinion the answer is most definitely YES! Her tour costumes alone are iconic. We go to see Queen Bey not only to be highly entertained but to also see what head turning outfit she comes out in next. From sequins and sparkles to leopard leotards, beyonce knows how to bring the sexy. Designers are lined up to dress Mrs. Carter for her shows and some of her showstopping looks have come from the best of the best including Givenchy, Emilio Pucci, and Ralph and Russo just to name a few. Take a look at some of Bey's most memorable costumes and tell us what you think. Which ones were your favorites and do you think Beyonce is a fashion icon?
